The visually striking campus of Cork College of FET – Douglas Street Campus (formerly St. John’s Central college) enjoys a location close to Cork city centre.
Cafes, shops and major bus routes are within easy walking distance from the college.
The college is truly a creative hub as it offers one of the best ranges of Art, Design and media courses in Cork.
Fine Art, Graphic design, filmmaking, jewellery design, illustration and Photography courses are just a small sample of over forty courses on offer in the Douglas street campus.
For those who wish to study Art in Cork, the ‘Art, Craft and Design’ course is a popular choice.
It is an ideal art course in Cork for both school leavers and mature students to explore their artistic side.
Subjects include Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Ceramics, Mixed Media, Design and the Craft areas of Woodcraft and Jewellery making.
Students often use this course to as a portfolio preparation course for progression to third level colleges in Ireland and abroad. It has also proven to be an excellent course for students who are not sure what creative path or future courses they should do as it gives them time to explore a diverse range of creative possibilities.
The college also offers a QQI level 6 course in Fine art.
Students on this course have their own personal space in the studio. They deepen their knowledge and develop their skills in fine art painting, sculpture, drawing and design.
We also support students to prepare a portfolio and how they may go about setting themselves up in the art world in the future.
Students can also do an optional subject (Art in the community module) that involves learning how to work creatively with groups in the Community arts and or Arts and health sector.
