The Soundtracks & Sound Design course comprehensively teaches and develops various skills involved in creating bespoke music and soundtracks for film, TV and video.
In addition to learning skills of musical composition and production for visual media, students will learn the craft of ‘Sound Design’ (the process of developing and manipulating recorded or sampled audio elements for creative purposes) and the art of ”Foley” (the reproduction and recording of everyday sound effects for film, tv, video, theatre etc).
Furthermore, the course outlines a clear career path in the Irish and international film music arena, through the demystification of the music publishing world, the teaching of the practical skills of music administration (such as creating a synch licence for film) and in the dissemination of a general understanding of the film making process and its requirements for sound.
Shane Ring
Shane completed our Soundtracks & Sound Design Course 20/21, creating some fantastic work in the process. Just one example is this original soundtrack for a film short, entitled Home For Dinner. Shane composed, performed and produced this Twin Peaks influenced music score, as well as creating all foley and sound design elements of the soundtrack.
Another excellent original production by Shane Ring (Soundtracks & Sound Design 20/21). Inspired by the cinematic musical themes of James Bond movies, Shane set out to create his own bond theme…. and an amazing job he did too!
Lucy Ann Leland
Lucy also completed the Soundtracks & Sound Design course 20/21 and created some stellar original works throughout the year.
One example is her original track Tragedy, which Lucy composed, performed and produced for her Sound Engineering module.
Hauntingly beautiful, this track showcases much of what is great about creative audio production.
